No. 3 seeded Millersville tops Seton Hill 2-0 in PSAC Quarterfinals

Millersville, Pa. – The dynamic duo of Millersville's leading scorers, sophomore Talia Grynkewicz and junior Kay Liebl, was in full effect in the 2-0 victory over Seton Hill in a Pennsylvania State Athletic (PSAC) Quarterfinal match-up at Pucillo Field Tuesday night. The No. 3 seeded Marauders kept their PSAC Tournament alive, advancing to the semifinals where they will face No. 7 seeded East Stroudsburg on Friday at Bloomsburg.

This win was the first conference tournament victory for the Marauders since a 2-0 triumph over Edinboro in the 2003 quarterfinal round. Millersville earned its 14th win of the season, tying the all-time single-season wins mark. The Griffins were eliminated from the conference tournament, dropping to 12-5-1 on the season.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• From the start, Millersville went on the attack, striking first in the 11th minute when a speeding Liebl forced the goalkeeper out from the left side. Liebl fed Grynkewicz at the top of the box where she scored with a wide open net.
• A near-goal came in the 41st minute when Liebl put her foot on a pass that forced the goalkeeper out but the shot was saved.
• In the 60th minute, Liebl passed the ball from the middle of the box to the approaching senior Delaney Meadows. Meadows' first shot was saved, but she gathered the rebound and took another shot, hitting it just left of the post.
• The Marauders extended their lead to 2-0 in the 67th minute. Grynkewicz dribbled the ball to the right side of the goal which forced the goalkeeper out of the box. Grynkewicz quickly dish a pass into the middle. Liebl gathered the pass and shot a low liner  that was saved, but Liebl gathered the rebounded shot and scored into the left side.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
• Liebl led the team in shots with seven and five on net. Liebl posted her 17th goal, eighth assist and 42nd point of the season. 
• Grynkewicz and Meadows both had four shots. Grynkewicz scored the 10th goal and fifth assists of her sophomore campaign.
• Sophomore Erin Heimbach earned her fourth shutout while saving three shots. The win was Heimbach's 10th.
 
NOTES
• Tuesday was the second meeting of the season between the teams. Millersville also won the first by a 2-0 score. Grynkewicz scored in both games.
• This marks the third appearance in the conference semifinals for the Marauders.
• Liebl is a goal away from tying the single-season goals record, held by Susan Kerr (2003) with 18. Liebl is also two points away from breaking the single-season points record. Liebl is tied for the team lead in assists.
• Haley Peachey logged her first start of the season.

UP NEXT
• The Marauders play No. 7 seeded East Stroudsburg in the PSAC Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 2. Times are still to be determined. The Warriors took down the No.2 seeded Kuztown earlier this afternoon.
