No. 21 Millersville celebrates Senior Day with a win over Clarion

Millersville, Pa. – The No. 21 Millersville University women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day with an impressive 4-2 victory over Clarion on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon.

The Marauders improved to 12-3 and 11-3 conference play. The squad moved into a tie for second in Millersville's single-season wins behind 2003's 14 wins.

MATCH HIHGLIGHTS
• Sophomore Talia Grynkewicz opened up the offensive opportunities with a shot off the cross bar from an open right side in the 13th minute.
• Freshman Rachel Leisher chipped a low cross to junior Kay Liebl who got the pass and ripped a shot that was stopped by the Golden Eagle' goalkeeper in the 22nd minute.
• Liebl sent a pass from the left side, finding senior Delaney Meadows who had some space in front of the goalie, dribbled around her and scored in the 26th minute.
• The Marauders extended their lead to 2-0 in the 50th minute on a cross by the attacking Alexis Glode to the right side that found the head of Grynkewicz.
• Clarion scored an own-goal on a deflected Millersville pass in the 51st minute.
• Freshman Alexis Spencer sent a long pass from midfield to find the speeding Liebl on the left side. Liebl gathered the pass and shot the ball into the back of the net in the 58th minute. The Marauders led at that point, 3-1.
• Grynkewicz scored an insurance goal in the 72nd minute. Junior Paige Mancini kicked a long ball to the attacking Grynkewicz on the right side who finished with a volley.

HEAD COACH MATT PROCOPIO QUOTES
• "We did what we needed to do to get positive result today. We scored four nice goals. Positive day for our seniors as well."
• "It was great for [the seniors] to all play 90 minutes together today. Delaney scored a nice goal which made the day even more special for her."
• "Paige played a great ball in on the assist to Talia. Talia scored two nice goals with other from a great ball in by Alexis. Kay had a great goal and assist to Delaney who had a nice finish."

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
• Liebl scored her 13th goal, tying her for second with Becky Morris (2000) on Millersville's single-season list.
• Grynkewicz scored a brace, putting her season total to nine goals. Grynkewicz recorded a team-high eight shots with three on net.
• Goalkeeper sophomore Erin Heimbach stopped five shots. She improved her record to 8-2.

NOTES
• The Marauders improved their spot in the conference standings with two games remaining in the regular season, moving into a tie for second with Kuztown with 33 points. On top of the standings is Bloomsburg with 34 points.
• Millersville posted its third-straight game with more than 25 shots and 12 on net. The Marauders totaled 27 shots.
• All seniors played all 90 minutes.

• The Marauders take to the road for the final time in the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m., at Lock Haven.
