Shippensburg, Pa. - After a well-played first half that ended in a 1-1 stalemate, the No. 8 Millersville University field hockey team and No. 5 Shippensburg played a very close second half, with the Raiders ultimately coming out on top, 3-2. Shippensburg earned the victory despite the Marauders out shooting their opposition 15-10 and holding a 10-5 edge in penalty corners.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• The game remained scoreless until the 21st minute, when
Annabelle Tierney took advantage of a loose ball that was dribbling in front of the cage and shot it past the goalkeeper. This was Tierney's first goal of the season since Millersville's first game against Queens back on Sept. 1.
• Shippensburg responded less than nine minutes later when Jazmin Petrantonio rocketed a shot near the cage that was tipped in by Caitlyn Wink to even the score. It was Wink's first goal of the season and with the assist Petrantonio increased her PSAC leading points total to 34.
• The Marauders had a chance to grab the lead in the beginning of the second half as they earned four penalty corners in the first 10 minutes of the period. Millersville fired off six shots, but the Raiders defense did not break as Ally Mooney stopped two of those shots in the cage and Wink recorded a defensive save.
• Jenna Sluymer broke the tie in the 49th minute with her fifth goal of the season which she sent high into the left side of the cage.
• The Marauders came back to knot up the score in the 58th minute when
Emma Boutcher sent a pass from the right side of the circle to
Asia Weaver who dropped her stick to tip the ball past the goalkeeper for the first goal of her collegiate career.
• Shippensburg recorded the decisive goal in the 63rd minute when Valen Alonso rocketed the ball into the left side of the cage to notch the game winner.
COACH SHELLY BEHRENS QUOTES
• "It was nice to score some goals against them, I really thought we were in it the whole way. I loved how we played, I thought our possession time was a huge positive. There were some good things from today that we can build off of. I'm proud of how we competed today even though I think we lacked some discipline in certain areas. This was a really good game that we were in and unfortunately a few lulls led to some goals for them."
• "We really needed Asia's goal to give us some momentum. We want more people to step up and score. Asia has been a great spark off the bench and for her to get her first goal tonight was great."
• "Even though we gave up three goals, I thought our defense and
Autumn Peters played well. The mistakes that we made tonight can be corrected. Shippensburg is a good team and they made us pay for our mistakes. But we're a good team, too. There are some things from this we can learn from in order to get to the next level. I like that we're getting better. It's disappointing to not get the win when you're that close and I really thought we had them. But I'm happy with how we are performing and now it's a matter of finishing strong."
