Box Score West Chester, Pa. - West Chester's Hollinger Field House continues to be a house of horrors for the Millersville men's basketball team. On Wednesday, West Chester emphatically snapped a three-game losing streak by a 107-63 final.
The 44-point loss for the Marauders came less than a month after Millersville took the nationally-ranked Golden Rams to the buzzer in a 75-73 loss at home. Oh the difference home court makes, however. Millersville has won just three times in Hollinger over the last 22 years. For the second time in the last three trips, the margin of defeat was more than 40 points, and it stands as the Millersville's largest defeat since 1964: a 118-71 loss also at West Chester.
West Chester more than doubled Millersville's made field goals. The Marauders shot 35 percent while West Chester connected on 63.4 percent (45 of 71). Six Golden Rams scored in double figures and the home team piled up 61 points in the second half. West Chester also dominated the glass, holding a 46-25 edge in rebounds.
The game stood tied at 13-13 through 10 minutes, but over the next 30 minutes, West Chester made an incredible 40 of 57 shots (.702) including 9 of 15 threes. The run began with back-to-back Frank Rokins baskets, and in less than two minutes, West Chester turned in a tied game into a nine point lead. The lead kept growing. Millersville made just two field goals over the final 10 minutes of the first half and was outscored 33-7 in that stretch. At one point during the run, West Chester made 9 of 10 shots. West Chester continued to pour it on, and at one point in the second half led by 51.
Jordan Greene led Millersville with 20 points against his former team, making a career-high 4 of 6 from three while playing all 40 minutes. In his four games against West Chester, Greene averaged 19.8 points per game.
Millersville, now 7-15 (5-11 PSAC), travels to Cheyney Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip.
