Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville University women's volleyball team ran its record to 6-0 Friday evening in Pucillo Gymnasium, and it couldn't have been a much more dominant performance. The Marauders delivered 38 kills and 10 services aces with set wins of 25-9, 25-16, 25-5 in a sweep of USciences.
Erin Harman, the reigning PSAC Central Athlete of the Week, posted 10 kills with one error for a .409 hitting percentage. It was her fourth double-digit kill performance of the young season.
Katie Laughman assisted on all but five of the team's kills.
Haley Butler committed just one error while totaling seven kills. Freshman
Courtney Turocy recorded a career-high four service aces.
The Marauders limited USciences to a -.108 hitting percentage, and the match was never in doubt. With Millersville leading 15-7, Laughman served the Marauders to 10 consecutive point. The run included a pair of aces. Millersville totaled nine kills in the opening set and 16 on 50 attempts in the second. Six came from Harman and three apiece came from
Haley Butler,
Kelsi Ceriani and Turocy.
A one-sided third set saw the Marauders build a 9-0 lead that included a stretch of five kills in a row. With Turocy serving, the Marauders ripped off nine consecutive points with Turocy serving, three of the points coming by ace. The run stopped with the Marauders leading 21-2. The lead only continued to expand.
Kat Forry closed the set and the match with a service ace.
Millersville's Marauder Clash continues Saturday with the Marauders hosting Felician at 10 a.m. and West Chester at 2 p.m.
