Indiana, Pa. -- The Millersville women's soccer team fell to conference rival Indiana (Pa.) 3-0 Saturday.
The two teams traded opportunities on goal halfway through the first half. Senior
Stacie Hallinan forced Indiana's keeper to make a save in the 32nd minute. One minute later, the Crimson Hawks responded on the counter attack and netted their first goal of the game. The Crimson Hawks charged up the field again two minutes later and doubled their lead to 2-0 in the 35th minute. Millersville earned a corner kick and sophomore
Kay Liebl forced a save in the 45th minute, but the Marauders could not halve Indiana's lead before the end of the half.
Millersville had an injection of fresh legs with four substitutions in the 57th minute, but Indiana was able to overcome the energized midfield and push the ball up into Millersville's defensive third. The Crimson Hawks looked for an opening in the Millersville defensive and earned their third goal of the game in the 61st minute. Junior
Delaney Meadows forced the Indiana keeper to make two saves in the time following the third goal, but the Marauders came up short in their scoring opportunities..
The Marauders fall to 3-5-2 and 2-5-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Millersville continued to struggle away from Pucillo Field dropping to 0-4-1 in away games this season. Millersville will look to change their fortunes at PSAC opponents when they face West Chester Oct. 4 at 1 p.m.
