West Chester, Pa. -- The Millersville women's soccer team lost a tough match 3-1 at conference rival West Chester University Wednesday.
The Marauders and the Golden Rams traded possession during the first half. Both teams had potential scoring opportunities but each failed to convert their attempts. Sophomore
Katia Mujica stopped the Golden Rams four times while her teammates recorded four shots against the Golden Rams during the first half. The stalemate held through the half and the teams returned to their benches tied 0-0.
West Chester's persistence on offense paid off in the second half. The Golden Rams scored three unanswered goals between the 54th and 79th minute to put the game out of reach. Sophomore
Kay Liebl saved face by scoring her sixth goal of the season in the 85th minute. Liebl fired her shot, and the goalie was unable to jump and stop the ball. The score held at 3-1 until the clock ticked down to zero.
Millersville falls to 3-6-2 and 2-6-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Marauders return for some home cooking at Pucillo Field Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. against conference rival Mercyhurst University.
