Millersville lacrosse celebrates senior day with a 13-9 victory over Gannon

Millersville, Pennsylvania -- The Millersville women's lacrosse team celebrated seniors Jamie Damirgian, Taylor Davis, Kelly Devlin, Carly Godstrey and Renee Landis before topping Pennsylvania State Athletic conference rival Gannon University 13-9 Saturday.

Millersville ripped off three goals in the opening ten minutes courtesy of Davis, Landis and junior Sabrina Fusco. The game remained at 3-0 for ten minutes before Fusco fired three more goals in a two minute period to make the score 6-0. Davis scored one final first half goal for the Marauders in between Gannon responses to make the score 7-2 at the end of the half.

Gannon outscored the Marauders 7-6 in the second half, but the lead built by the Marauders was too much to overcome. Fusco scored two more goals during the period to put her total to six goals on the day. Sophomore Erin Fagan scored two goals while junior Kristin Butzner and freshman Sarah Leverentz each contributed one.

Landis finished as the program leader in assists with 75. She ranks 12th all time with 105 goals and currently ranks eighth all-time with 180 points. Davis scored her 20th goal of the season against Gannon and finished with 93 points in her Millersville career. Godstrey set a career high in minutes played against the Golden Knights. Damirgian won four more draw controls against Gannon to bring her career total to 108. Devlin finished as a consistent defender for the Marauders. She played in 65 of a possible 69 games while scooping up 73 groundballs and causing 37 turnovers.

Fusco completed the season with at least one goal in every single game. She leads the team with 60 points and 44 goals. Leverentz extended her goal scoring streak to nine with her second half goal against the Golden Knights.

The Marauders head into the offseason with their two leading goal scorers along with the majority of their defense and their two goalies. The team will look to continue improving in every facet of the game to get back to the PSAC playoffs next season.
