West Chester, Pennsylvania - Brittany Smith collected two hits and moved past Meghan Sinback for most career-hits at Millersville but the Marauders were topped by West Chester 3-0 and 3-1 Friday.
Cassidy Pinchorski pitched a clean game one with the exception of one pitch that Alyssa Herion sent over the fence to provide all the offense the Golden Rams would need. Three runs in the middle innings of game two would then lift West Chester to a 3-1 victory in game two.Â
Game One
Neither team would score in the first inning but the Golden Rams struck in the bottom of the third as Herion homered to make the score 3-0. Millersville was being no-hit until the seventh inning when
Brittany Smith tried to get a rally going. The senior smacked a single, number 199 for her career, breaking up the no-no and setting the all-time career hits record at Millersville with 199 (Meghan Sinback 04-07). Â Amanda Houck would bounce back and get the next batter to ground into a double play as the Golden Rams took game one 3-0.
Game Two
In the top of the third with no score,
Rebecca Blatt and
Heather Lutz worked back-to-back walks to start the inning. Amanda Houck would return to the mound as
Raeann Buskey singled to load the bases. Two batters later,
Kaelyn Buskey ripped a single down the line that would score Blatt and give the Marauders their first lead of the day.Â
West Chester responded in the bottom half of the inning however when Sara Walasavage homered to left field and the Golden Rams took the 2-1 lead. The longball continued to work for West Chester as Heidi McCollister hit a solo shot to make the score 3-1.Â
The Marauders threatened briefly in the fifth, but West Chester controlled the rest of the game taking the 3-1 victory.Â
Millersville returns home Saturday for senior day with a double-dip against Shippensburg starting at 1 p.m.
