East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania - The Warriors overcame a 5-0 deficit in game one and controlled game two as East Stroudsburg defeated Millersville 7-6 and 10-2 Saturday.
Cassidy Pinchorski threw game one while
Emma Bevard pitched game two but neither could control the Warrior offense.
Game One
The Marauders wasted no time scoring, putting up three runs in the first inning. In the top of the first
Morgan Almodovar singled in
Raeann Buskey to take a 1-0 lead.
Maggie Murphy followed up with the next at bat delivering a two-RBI double to give Millersville a 3-0 lead. In the top of the second inning,
Brittany Smith smacked a double that would score
Heather Lutz and
Rebecca Blatt as the Marauders took a 5-0 lead.
East Stroudsburg scored a run in the second inning but Pinchorski settled in an didn't allow another run until the fifth when the Warriors made the score 5-2. In the top of the sixth, Kaelyn Buskey doubled in
Brittany Smith as Millersville regained the five-run lead.
The Warriors led off the sixth with a solo home run as East Stroudsburg tacked on four more runs and took a 7-6 lead into the seventh. With the momentum in their favor, the Warriors sat down the Marauders in order and took game one by a run.
Game Two
East Stroudsburg would jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning but Millersville would tie the game in the top of the second. After
Megan McCurdy and
Rebecca Blatt registered hits,
Raeann Buskey would load the bases for
Brittany Smith. Smith would drill a single and drive home Blatt to make the score 1-1. The Warriors regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning and a run in the third to take a 3-1 lead.
East Stroudsburg took control in the bottom of the fourth when Mary Wallick plated two runners as the Warriors took control of the game. East Stroudsburg added another run in the inning and four more in the fifth as they cruised to a 10-2 victory.
Millersville has now lost eight in a row and sits at just 2-8 in PSAC East play. The Marauders have a busy week ahead, hosting Goldey-Beacom Monday before facing Bowie State Tuesday.
