Softball sweeps USciences on the road

Story Links

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - The Millersville softball team outscored USciences 20-2 in winning two road games by scores of 9-0 and 11-2. Cassidy Pinchorski started and won both games, and Brittany Smith totaled eight RBIs.

In the top of the third of game one, Heather Lutz singled to keep alive the inning and spark a two-out rally. After Raeann Buskey singled, Smith roped a double to left center to put Millersville ahead 2-0. Maggie Murphy would continue the rally and drive in Smith as Millersville took a 3-0 lead.

In the fourth, Lutz sparked another two-out rally when she doubled to bring in Jamie Trewhella and Rebecca Blatt. Lutz registered another RBI double in the sixth as Millersville scored four more runs to take a 9-0 lead that Paige Harris would close out.

In game two, Millersville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first but USciences responded in the second to tie up the score at 2-2. In the top of the fifth, the Millersville offense exploded to score seven runs. With the bases loaded, Rebecca Blatt came up to the plate and ripped a bases-clearing double and gave the Marauders a comfortable three-run lead.

Millersville would score another run before Smith capped the inning a three-RBI triple to make the score 9-2. The Marauders tacked on two more in the sixth as Emma Bevard finished the game and Millersville won 11-2.

The Marauders welcome East Stroudsburg Friday for a doubleheader at Seaber Stadium.
