East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania - For the second time in the week, Millersville men's basketball's offense was slow to get started in a road PSAC East game. On Saturday at East Stroudsburg, the Marauders scored just six points in the first 11-plus minutes of basketball and never recovered in the 92-58 loss.
Just three days earlier at Mansfield, it took Millersville (7-14, 6-11 PSAC) more than eight minutes to score its first field goal, and it wasn't much better Saturday. By the time
Jordan Greene connected on a 3-pointer, 4:50 of game action had passed and the Marauders already trailed by seven. Greene scored on the Marauders' next possession, but the team then mustered just two points over the next seven minutes, and East Stroudsburg built a 20-point lead with seven minutes remaining in the first half.
The closest Millersville came was 45-30 with 16:51 left in the game, but ESU scored 16 of the game's next 18 points and eventually led by as many as 37. ESU has handed Millersville its two most sizable losses of the season--one by 32 and Saturday's by 34. After shooting 56.8 percent in the first meeting, East Stroudsburg shot 53.8 percent on Saturday.
East Stroudsburg forced 19 turnovers on 13 steals and turned those miscues into 25 points. The Warriors also shot 6-of-7 from 3-point range in the opening half, but shot 0-for-4 in the second. Even with 92 points, only two Warriors reached double figures, and Rasheed Moore led the team with 11. The Warriors' bench scored 52 points.
Greene led Millersville with 19 points and three assists, hitting 8-of-17 shots from the field.
Amadou Kaba totaled 16 points and eight rebounds against his former team.
Millersville returns home Wednesday, Feb. 8 to host Bloomsburg.
