Kendra Bamberger notched her first double-double of the season as the forward scored 15 points and snagged 10 rebounds, but Millersville lost a close game to conference rival Mercyhurst 65-61 as the Lakers drained five straight free throws in the final ten seconds.
Bamberger started the game hot and scored 12 points and earned six rebounds by halftime. She shot an efficient 6-12 from the field in her 39 minutes on the court. Bamberger finally earned a double-double after she had nearly earned a double-double in three straight games as she recorded either double-digit points or rebounds in those previous contests.
The teams played a back and forth game that featured six ties and six lead changes. Millersville lead 16-14 after the first quarter before Mercyhurst rallied and lead 29-26 at halftime. The Marauders outscored the Lakers 19-16 in the third quarter to tie the game at 45 a piece entering the fourth quarter. The final lead change occurred with 8:01 remainingas the Lakers hit a three pointer to take a 50-48 lead. The Lakers held a white-knuckled grasp on their lead as the Marauders were within two possessions for the remainder of the game. Freshman
Lauren Lister hit a free throw with ten seconds on the clock to cut the lead to one, but the Lakers converted 5-6 free throw attempts to close out the Marauders.
Senior
Alayah Hall lead the Marauders in scoring for the second time this season with 17 points. The guard played all 40 minutes of the game while shooting 7-16 from the field and 50 percent from the three point line. Hall was all over both sides of the court as she snagged six rebounds, stole the ball four times, assisted three buckets, and blocked one shot. Junior
Jade Farquhar scored double-digit points for the second time in three games. The guard scored 14 points on 5-6 shooting while shooting 100 percent from the three point line. Farquhar also filled up the stat sheet as she corralled six rebounds, block two shots, stole two balls, and assisted one shot.
Millersville falls to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Marauders do not have a game scheduled during the week of Thanksgiving, but the team will return to Pucillo Gymnasium Nov. 27 to take on out-of-conference opponent Shepherd University at 7 p.m.
