Millersville, Pa. - Behind an efficient 14 kills from
Haley Butler, the Millersville women's volleyball team scored its fourth PSAC win in six matches by sweeping East Stroudsburg (27-25, 25-21, 25-20) Saturday at Pucillo Gymnasium.
Millersville won for the third time in four matches and improved to 11-3 overall with the win. Butler led the Marauders' attack with 14 kills and a .407 hitting percentage.
Erin Harman tallied 11 kills and three block assists.
Katie Laughman recorded her seventh double-double with 28 assists and 10 digs.
The Marauders scored the sweep despite trailing 24-22 in the opening set. With ESU serving for set point, Marauders were helped by a service error, and Laughman found Butler to even the score. After trading points,
Lindsey Blevins and Butler delivered on back-to-back attacks to close the set for the Marauders.Â
Millersville hit just .108 in the opening frame, but the tide turned after Millersville's comeback, and the Marauders out-hit ESU in each of the final two sets including an impressive 19 kills to just three errors and .421 hitting percentage in the third frame. Butler and Harman each totaled five kills in the third, and Laughman assisted on 14 of the kills.
The Marauders led by as many as nine (19-10) in the second set and held an eight-point advantage at 18-10 in the third. Butler scored Millersville's final points two of the three sets.
