Millersville, Pennsylvania - Millersville emphatically put an end to its eight-game skid in Wednesday's 97-67 victory over visiting Cheyney. With five players in double figures and
Marcus Adkison scoring a game-high 24, Millersville produced its highest point output since January of 2015.
Millersville (6-12, 5-8 PSAC) has had its fair share of close calls lately, but Wednesday's PSAC East match-up was anything but. Millersville roared to a 19-point lead with 5:32 remaining in the first half using a 21-4 run that featured scoring from six different players. Millersville led by as many as 21 in the first half.
Cheyney (2-16, 2-12 PSAC) came within 13 points in the opening minutes of the second period, but a 15-0 run over a four-minute stretch built Millersville's lead to 29 at 71-40--its largest lead of the game.
Millersville shot a season-best 53.4 percent from the field including 60.7 percent in the second half. Millersville made a season-high 28 free throws, and missed only four, giving the team a 87.5 percentage--its best this season when attempting more than 11 free throws.
The Marauders out-scored Cheyney 50-36 over the final 20 minutes.
Cornell Yarde II scored 11 of his 15 in the second half. Adkison scored 17 of his 24 in the first period, knocking down four of his five 3-pointers in that half. It was his seventh 20-point game of the season.
Jordan Greene added 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals, giving him double-digit points in five consecutive games and eight rebounds in two in a row. He's also totaled eight steals in his last four games.
Conrad Chambers scored 13 points, hitting 10-of-10 free throws.
Amadou Kaba chipped in 11.
Millersville hosts No. 5 Shippensburg Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m.
