Millersville, Pennsylvania -Â Amanda Mcelhare scored the second goal of her young career but Millersville conceded two goals in the second half and fell to Slippery Rock, 2-1.
Slippery Rock looked to score first earning three corner kicks in the first 10 minutes of the game, but Millersville fended off the Rock's attack. The Marauders' first chance came when
Kay Liebl broke through and put one on net, but Slippery Rock goalkeeper Charlotte Elrod came up with a save.
After the Rock tested
Samantha Wolfe for her first save, Millersville countered asÂ
Alexandrea Powell played a ball up the right side where
Amanda Mcelhare dribbled into the box and placed a shot in the upper 90 to put Millersville on top, 1-0. The Rock would earn a corner kick and force Wolfe to make another tough save, but going into the break Millersville held a 1-0 advantage.
Kay Liebl threatened twice early in the second half, once with a shot and a header that were pushed wide of the net. Slippery Rock evened the score in the 54th minute when Miranda Gallucci found Brooke Testa who socred the Rock's first goal. Slippery Rock kept the pressure on until the 85th when Gallucci swung a free kick into the box that found the head of Sam Thornton, who put the game winning goal in the back of the net.Â
Millersville and Slippery Rock both sit at 1-2 in both conference play and overall on the season. It's a quick turnaround for the Marauders, however, as they host Edinboro Saturday at 1 p.m.Â
