Millersville, Pennsylvania - Jaxson Burns scored his third goal in four games to put the Marauders up in the first, but Gannon scored five unanswered to top Millersville 5-2.
Marcus Frangakis added a goal late in the second half but the Golden Knights, who came into the matchup ranked 25th, placed eight shots on goal to Millersville's six.
The Marauders earned a pair of corner kicks early, but could not convert. Millersville had a free kick from 40 yards out in the 11th, and
Kody Eberly dropped the ball into the six yard box where
Kyle Finsterbush just pushed a header wide. In the 20th minute,
Marcus Frangakis and
Nathan Delgado both had shots blocked by the Golden Knights defense, but the ball landed at the feet of
Jaxson Burns who pushed it past the keeper for the first goal of the game.
Gannon finally threatened in the 33rd, when Sergio Kobowane had the ball in the box but
Tanner Brenize slid in front to block the shot. Neither side managed a shot on goal the rest of the half as Millersville was called offsides nine times.
Gannon nearly tied the score less than a minute into second half when Hamza Mourchid got behind the defense but
Darian McCauley charged out and knocked the ball wide. Millersville almost netted a second goal when
Jeramey Robbins played a ball into the box where Delgado placed it far post but Jorge Hernandez pushed it wide for a corner kick.
In the 59th minute, Gannon had a free kick just outside of the 18 and Hamza Mourchid bent the ball in far post for his 11th goal of the season to even the score. The Golden Knights would continue to press when Mourchid had the ball on the left and played Mathias Krigbaum who placed it far post to give Gannon a 2-1 lead. Just moments later, the same scenario would play out, this time Sergio Kobowane found Krigbaum who flicked it past McCauley.
Mourchid would strike again in the 76th as he dribbled up the left side and beat McCauley for his second goal of the game. The Golden Knights tacked on a fifth when Krigbaum netted his second of the game to make the lead 5-1.
The Marauders would score late when
Nathan Delgado played a ball into the box and Frangakis flicked it past the keeper for his first goal of 2016.
The 25th-ranked Marauders fall to 5-2-1 (3-1-1 PSAC) on the year and hit the road Tuesday, traveling to West Chester at 4 p.m.
