Softball Splits Doubleheader on the Road

Wilmington, Del. – Senior Brianna Andraos four-hit Goldey-Beacom as the Millersville softball team notched a 5-1 victory in game one, but the Marauders dropped a 3-0 decision in the nightcap at the Jackson Complex.

With game one tied 1-1 entering the second frame, the Marauders grabbed a 2-1 lead.  Raeann Buskey began the inning with a walk, advanced to second on Megan McCurdy's sacrifice and scored when Jamie Trewhella's bunt single also turned into a throwing error.

Millersville (23-15) added another run in the third when Kelsey Campbell dropped a squeeze bunt that allowed Brittany Smith to score. Jaime Trewhella made it 4-1 in the fourth inning when her lead-off single turned into a score thanks to a three-base error by the Lightning.

Reigning PSAC East Pitcher of the Week Brianna Andraos turned in another outstanding effort, allowing one run on four hits across seven innings of work. Trewhella was a perfect 4-for-4 and Megan Hallock added a pair of singles.

In game two, Cassidy Pinchorski retired the first 10 batters in order before Goldey-Beacom (9-31) got to her for three runs-one-earned on two hits within the fourth inning. Kelsey Brandle looped a one-out double and scored on a double down the right-field line for a 1-0 lead.  Shelby Murphy singled, and a Paulynn Mao grounder escaped the grasps of second baseman Jaynie Black and permitted both Murphy and pinch-runner Autumn Hollis to score for a 3-0 contest.

Alyssa Giampolo silenced the Marauder bats as she tossed a four-hit shutout.

Millersville return home for a non-conference doubleheader with University of the Sciences beginning at 3 p.m.
