Box Score Millersville, Pa. – Millersville out-battled Chestnut Hill Sunday to earn their third victory of the season, defeating the Giffins 12-9.
Sabrina Fusco lead the Marauders with four goals while
Renee Landis had three goals and two assists. Defensively,
Brianna Logana,
Kelly Devlin, and
Brooke Davis all caused two turnovers while Devlin and Davis' sister Taylor each picked up three ground balls. Bryanna Weston-Wyatt remained solid, recording seven saves
The Griffins came out firing as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
Sabrina Fusco got the Marauders on the board when
Taylor Davis set her up to make the score 3-1. Emorie Keimig would score her second goal of the game to extend the lead to three goals once again, but Millersville would respond scoring the next three to tie it up 4-4 when
Bridget Hufnagel scored from the free position shot attempt. Millersville would jump out to a two goal lead before Chestnut Hill tied the game up at 6. With just 23 seconds left in the first half,
Taylor Davis scored her sixth goal of the season to give Millersville the one-goal lead at the break.
It was almost seven minutes into the second half before Jacklyn O'Leary put one past Weston-Wyatt to tie the game up at seven apiece. The score remained tied until Fusco and
Renee Landis each scored within a minute of each other. Keimig would cut the deficit to one goal scoring from a free position shot attempt before
Callie Kavanaugh scored her fourth goal of the season. The Griffins would not go away though, as Julia Galantich scored to once again make the deficit just one. In the end, it was Fusco who sealed the game for Millersville, netting her 17th of the season and giving the Marauders a comfortable two goal lead with four minutes to play before adding another just before time expired.
Millersville improves to 3-1 on the season and next hosts East Stroudsburg Saturday at 1 p.m. Â
