Raleigh, N.C. - The
Jennifer Probst Era of Millersville softball opened with a 4-0 win over Fairmont State Friday afternoon. But in the second game of the day, Mountain East Conference foe Concord topped the Marauders, 8-0.
Senior
Brianna Andraos (1-0) helped Probst to a win in her first game coaching the Marauders with an impressive complete game performance against Fairmont State, striking out seven while not walking a batter and scattering seven hits. She escaped a sticky situation in the opening inning after the first two batters reached with singles. She received some help from her defense in the fifth when a well-executed
Megan Hallock-to-

Megan McCurdy relay pegged a runner at the plate and preserved a 1-0 lead. Andraos then retired six in a row to close the game.
Millersville's lineup was paced by McCurdy's two hits and two runs, as well as
Maggie Murphy's two singles and two RBIs. Murphy put the Marauders on the board in the fourth by driving McCurdy, who led off the frame with a single.
Kelsey Campbell roped a two-run triple in the sixth, and Murphy followed with a RBI ground out to boost Millerville's lead to 4-0.
The Marauders were on the other end of the shutout against Concord in the nightcap. Sarah Herndon (2-1) surrendered just one hit and a walk over five innings. She pushed her no-hit bid to two outs in Millersville's final at bat.
Melanie Snyder broke up the no-hitter with a pinch hit single. The Marauders put the ball in play against Herndon, striking out just four times while drawing a walk and reaching base on an error in the third.
Concord picked up three runs in the first off of starter
Cassidy Pinchorski (0-1). The Mountain Lions opened with four hits in the first five at bats. An error in the second opened the door to another three-run inning when Alyssa Morris hit a three-run homer. Concord picked up a run in the third and one more in the fourth to end the game in five. The the eight runs surrendered by Pinchorski, four were earned.
Millersville continues play at the Shaw Invitational Saturday against CIAA teams Virginia State and Bowie State.
