Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's lacrosse team fell to PSAC foe Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday by a score of 15-12.
Taylor Davis led Millersville with four goals on the afternoon while
Bridget Hufnagel and
Sabrina Fusco each had three. Hufnagel and
Renee Landis each had two assists and Landis added a pair of goals.
Bryana Weston-Wyatt recorded five saves and faced 25 shots.
The first half started with Ally Burrows and
Taylor Davis trading goals before IUP scored two in a row to jump out to a 3-1 lead. Hufnagel would respond with her first goal of the game at 23:31 before the Crimson Hawks took control, extending their lead to 7-3. Hufnagel and Fusco would cut the lead to two scoring back-to-back goals. Amy Weinberg would find Kim Hooven in front of the net for goals two times in a row to give Indiana a 9-5 lead going into halftime.
The second half began much like the first, with the two sides trading goals until IUP help an 11-6 lead. Millersville would cut the deficit to three as Davis and Landis both found the back of the net. Looking to regain control, the Crimson Hawks scored two in a row and held a 13-8 lead with under 12 minutes to play. After extending the lead to 15-9, the Marauders charged back scoring three in a row to make the score 15-12 with two minutes left. After winning the draw control, Millersville turned the ball over and the Crimson Hawks ran the clock out for the win.
With the loss, Millersville falls to 4-3 overall and are 1-2 in conference. The Marauders return to action Wednesday as they host Bloomsburg at 4 p.m.
