Box Score Millersville, Pa. - After scoring 17 against West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday, Millersville notched 20 goals to defeat Wilmington on Monday. Millersville's high-powered attack continues to be led by
Sabrina Fusco and
Bridget Hufnagel who scored four goals and totaled two assists each against the Wildcats.
The Marauders jumped on the board early when
Tessa Kircher scored her first goal of the season to give Millersville a 1-0 lead. Fusco and Hufnagel then each followed up with goals from free position attempts before Fusco fed
Taylor Davis for her first goal. Fusco and Hufnagel would score the next to and force a Wilmington timeout. The first half ended when Fusco received a pass from
Abby Mack and put it in the net just before time expired to give Millersville a 9-1 lead.
Mack came out firing in the second half, scoring a pair of goals in under two minutes of play. Later in the half, with Millersville in front 18-1, Hufnagel scored her ninth goal of the season and Kircher notched her second to help the Marauders reach the 20 goal plateau. The Marauders scored 20 goals against Shippensburg last season, and the 19 goal differential is the largest since Millersville topped Alderson Broaddus 25-2 in 2014.
Bryana Weston-Wyatt was not challenged much Monday but answered the bell five out of six times when she was.
Brooke Davis led Millersville with five ground balls while her sister Taylor totaled four to go along with a goal. Sam Foster scored the lone goal for Wilmington as the Wildcats fall to 0-2.
Millersville returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Philadelphia U to take on the Devils at 3 p.m.
