Millersville, Pennsylvania - Goldey-Beacom used a brilliant second-half shooting performance to pull away from homestanding Millersville Saturday, 95-84. In handing Millersville its first home loss of the season, the Lightning hit 20-of-30 shots for 58 points in the final 20 minutes.
Millersville (5-5) trailed 37-34 at the half and opened the second half by making six of its first seven shots, but Goldey-Beacom (8-3), which has now scored more than 90 points three times this season, scored on each of its first 11 second half possessions and hit 10 of its first 12 shots. On both of those misses, the Lightning got an offensive rebound and scored on a putback. Six Lightning players finished in double figures with Dante Thompson and his four second half dunks leading the way with 18. Only twice in 10 games has Millersville allowed an opponent to shoot better than 50 percent from the field, and both of those performances belong to Goldey-Beacom.
Millersville scored plenty in the second half as well, totaling 50 points on 55.9 percent shooting from the field and 6-of-13 shooting from three.
Marcus Adkison scored 11 of his 18 in the second half.
Jordan Greene, fresh off of his career high 21 points Friday night, scored 15 in 19 minutes.
The Marauders tipped Saturday's game just 16 hours after the conclusion of Friday's down-to-the-wire win over Mansfield while Goldey-Beacom entered the game with a full two weeks rest. The game was decided in the first six minutes of the second period. Goldey-Beacom built a 13-point lead by outscoring Millersville 26-16 in that stretch. The Marauders trailed by as many as 17 before cutting the deficit to 11 in the final minute. Goldey-Beacom totaled 18 second-chance points on 11 offensive rebounds.
