Greensburg, Pennsylvania - For the third time time in as many road games Millersville held a second half lead only to see it slip away in the closing minutes. On Saturday in Greensburg, Seton Hill used 23 points, 16 rebounds and eight blocks from Spencer Casson and sank 9-of-11 free throws in the final four minutes to hold off Millersville, 84-76.
Casson, the reigning PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year, helped the Griffins turn a 40-38 halftime lead into an eight-point win. He blocked five shots in the second half alone, and his defense was key to holding Millersville to 31.4 percent shooting in the second period. The Griffins, meanwhile connected on 16-of-29 (.552) shots and 10-of-13 free throws in the second. The 84 points were the most allowed by the Marauders this season. Millersville also made a season-low five 3-pointers including just one in the first half.
All three of Millersville's (3-3, 2-1 PSAC) losses have come on the road, and all three have been by single digits.
Marauders' guard
Marcus Adkison dropped 22 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field and 7-8 shooting from the line. It was his third consecutive 20-point game--the longest streak by a Marauder since Kelvin Parker's three-game run in February, 2014.
Cornell Yarde II scored all 11 of his points in the second half.
Jordan Greene scored all of his career-high 10 points in the game's first 15 minutes.
Amadou Kaba grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.
Adkison hit a 3-pointer 11 seconds into the second half, giving Millersville a one-point lead, and after Yarde's converted three-point play with 12:55 to play, the Marauders led 52-51. But Seton Hill answered with a 16-6 run over the next five minutes, hitting 7-of-8 field goals and a pair of threes. Anthony Karabotsos scored seven points in the stretch. That run put the Griffins in front 67-58.
Millersville did not go away quietly, answering with a 9-2 run of its own. Adkison scored six of the team's points, pulling Millersville to within 69-67 with 4:39 to play. But that was as close as the Marauders would get. Seton Hill outscored Millersville 15-9 the rest of the way, doing the majority of the damage at the free throw line, sinking 9-of-11. Millersville shot 3-of-10 over the same period of time.
