Millersville, Pennsylvania - The Millersville men's basketball team drilled a program record 18 3-pointers, led by
Marcus Adkison's nine in Saturday's 85-74 win over visiting Lincoln.
Millersville shot 18-of-35 from three, topping the 1995 club's record that was set against NYACK. Adkison hit 9-of-17 from long range and finished with a career-high 31 points--the most by a Marauder since Anthony Coleman's 36 on March 2, 2013. Adkison's nine threes came within one of the school record held by Kevin Towns (1996) and Matt Harris (1989). Millersville has made at least 10 threes in each of the last three games--all wins.
Now 3-1 for its best start since 2009-10, Millersville not only shot 30-of-60 from the field, it forced 18 turnovers, totaled eight steals and scored 28 points off of turnovers.
Adkison heated up early, hitting his first triple five minutes into the game, giving the Marauders a 9-8 lead. Millersville led the rest of the way. Adkison shot 4-of-7 from three in the first half, and carried that hot shooting into the second. He splashed home his fifth three 44 seconds into the second period. Another three gave Millersville a 16-point lead at 58-42 with 14:19 to play.
The Marauders led by as many as 17, but Lincoln chipped away and cut the Marauders' advantage to 80-74 on a Sean James three with 3:30 left to play. But from there, Lincoln went 0-for-3 from the field while
Conrad Chambers knocked down a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer.
Chambers finished with 16 points for his fourth consecutive game in double figures.
Cornell Yarde II added 13 points and nine rebounds, hitting 3-of-4 threes and 5-of-9 shots from the field.
