GAME OVERVIEW
• After a narrow 74-69 loss in the season opener at Goldey-Beacom, Millersville plays its first home games at Pucillo Gymnasium this weekend. The Marauders host PSAC West foes Edinboro and Mercyhurst for a Saturday-Sunday back-to-back. Millersville has a long history of success in road games against PSAC West opponents, owning a 40-22 record in such games since 1984.
• Millersville and Edinboro first played in 1986 and Millersville holds a 16-7 lead in the all-time series, and Edinboro is 0-9 in games played in Pucillo Gymnasium.  The last time the teams met in Pucillo (2013-14), the Marauders rolled to a 91-63 win. Millersville has won each of the last two home games by double-digits. Millersville has also won its last two home games against Mercyhurst (2014 and 2012). Mercyhurst's last win in Pucillo came in 2011 by an 84-75 score. Of the six times the teams have met since 2008-09, five have been decided by fewer than 10 points.
• In game one against Goldey-Beacom, Millersville's starting five had a combined 24 starts in a Millersville uniform and all of those belonged to
Cornell Yarde II and
Jon Lott. Of the eight players that played in the game, only three had previously played for the Marauders. Yarde played all 40 minutes and newcomer
Marcus Adkison played 39 minutes. Yarde led the Marauders with 16 points and nine rebounds. He also added four assists. Adkison led the team with five assists and three steals.
• While the statistics and game result do not count, Monday's exhibition against Loyola (Md.) provided further evidence that Millersville has balanced scoring and strong guard play. After five players scored in double-figures against Goldey-Beacom, four scored at least 10 points against the Division I opponent. Adkison dropped 18 points and recorded seven steals.
Conrad Chambers, who hit 3-of-5 threes against Goldey-Beacom, made 3-of-4 from long range against Loyola. Millersville has exhibited the ability to create turnovers in both games, generating 22 against Loyola on 12 steals and 20 turnovers on 12 steals against Goldey-Beacom. Millersville has also allowed both teams it has played to make a total of five three pointers.
• What is also evident from the first two games is that the Marauders miss the length of
Tommy Patterson on the interior. Millersville has given up 102 points in the paint in those two games. The Marauders were out-scored 52-28 in the paint by Goldey-Beacom and allowed the Lightning to shoot 54.1 percent from the field. Millersville also failed to block a shot in the loss to G-B.
•
Amadou Kaba came to Millersville after playing in just eight games in all of 2015-16 at East Stroudsburg. Early returns on the forward have been positive. After scoring a total of 23 points last season, Kaba scored 10 against both Goldey-Beacom and Loyola.
SCOUTING EDINBORO
• Coming off a 15-11 (14-8) season and third place finish in the division in 2015-16, Edinboro was picked fifth in the PSAC West Preseason Poll. The team lost All-America selection Henri Wade-Chatman and a two-time All-PSAC West selection in Tommy Scales. But Jaymon Mason returns after being named PSAC West Freshman of the Year in 2015 and averaged 20.8 ppg in 2015-16. Mason is averaging 27.5 ppg through the team's first two games, hitting 54.5 percent of his field goals, .526 percent from three and 9-of-11 free throws. He leads an uptempo offense that is averaging 88.5 ppg. Edinboro has shot .448 from three while holding opponents to 8-of-37 from three.
SCOUTING MERCYHURST
• The reigning PSAC Tournament champs opened the season with a one-sided, 103-37 win over Mount Aloysius but was topped 89-80 by Notre Dame College in game two. The Lakers were picked second in the PSAC West Preseason Poll after a 22-9 record in 2015-16. However, only H'ian Hale is a returning starter and the top six scorers from last season are gone. Through two games Durrell McDonald is the top scorer (19.5 ppg). He scored 28 vs. NDC. McDonald comes to Mercyhurst from DePaul.
