California, Pennsylvania - Four different Marauders scored to lift women's soccer to a 4-0 victory at California (Pa.) Saturday. Millersville outshot the Vulcans 16 to 7 with 10 shots finding the frame and played staunch defense, allowing just two shots to reach
Samantha Wolfe.
Cal looked to get on the board first with a pair of shots in the fifth minute but could not convert. After both sides earned corner kicks, Emily Kaufman forced Meghan Hayes to make a save and keep the score knotted at 0-0. In the 39th minute, Millersville earned a corner kick that
Savannah Hall whipped in to
Kaylie Cutlip who headed it home for the first goal of the game.
Cal nearly tied the game in the 40th minute when Selena Fushimi placed a ball on net but
Samantha Wolfe snagged the ball to keep the score 1-0 at the break.
The Marauders kept the pressure on in the second as
Kay Liebl struck in the 52nd when
Halie Parker swung a cross in to the six yard box and Liebl sent it home. After both sides traded shots, Liebl would play the ball to
Rachel Lyon who ripped a shot from the left side of the box to make the score 3-0. Millersville would add a fourth in the 85th when
Sydnie Parker scored her first goal of her career off a deflection.
The Marauders now stand at 4-7 (4-7 PSAC) and will return home Tuesday as they host Shippensburg at 5 p.m.
