Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. - Four Marauders scored goals as the Millersville men's soccer team topped Lock Haven 4-0 Wednesday.
Marcus Frangakis and
Nathan Delgado connected on the first two shots of the game to give the Marauders a 2-0 lead at the break.
Chase Flickinger and
Jeramey Robbins would add insurance goals in the second as Millersville cruised to victory.
Darian McCauley only had to make four saves, but he was tested early when Troy Amspacher sent a header on frame in the fourth minute that was grabbed by the freshman. Lock Haven's Zach Hommey put a header on net in the 15th minute but McCauley came up with another save to keep the game scoreless.
In the 21st minute, Frangakis took the ball from a Lock Haven defender and ripped a shot upper 90 to give Millersville a 1-0 lead. The Marauders would strike again in the 39th when, Flickinger played the ball to Delgado who beat the keeper on the near post and doubled the Millersville lead.
The Bald Eagles looked to climb back into the game right out of the gate in the second half when Ben Wilson forced McCauley to make a diving save in the 47th. Lock Haven would earn a corner kick, but Millersville would not concede a goal. In the 53rd, it was Delgado's turn to set up Flickinger as Flickinger took the pass and beat the keeper far post for the third goal of the game.
Both sides would have chances, but the Marauders would strike again in the 77th minute. After earning a free kick, Robbins placed the ball in the lower right-hand corner for his third goal of the season.
Millersville registered six shots-on-goal and only allowed four as a ateam. The Marauders now improve to 7-2-2 on the season (4-1-2 PSAC) and remain on the road, traveling to California (Pa.) Saturday to take on the Vulcans at 1 p.m.
