Indiana, Pa. – The Millersville men's basketball team lost its 11th-straight game as it fell to Indiana (Pa.) by a 78-56 decision. The Crimson Hawks matched its longest win-streak of the season at four as they improve to 10-5 overall and 6-3 in the PSAC West. Millersville falls to 2-12 overall and 2-7 in the PSAC East.
The Marauders opened the scoring with consecutive layup's by forward
Markeith Mont building a 4-0 lead. Millersville maintained its lead through the 14:53 mark after a
Shawn Williams trey building its largest lead of the night at 9-4. The home team finished the half on a 30-24 cumulating on a Brandon Norfleet jumper as time expired giving IUP the 34-23 advantage at halftime. Norfleet finished the first half with eight points.
The Crimson Hawks shot 44.4 percent from the floor in the opening period on 16-of-36 shooting. IUP came into the game ranked third in the PSAC giving up 68.3 points per game as it held Millersville to 8-of-25 (32%) from the field in the first half. Senior
Shawn Williams canned 10 points in the half chipping in two-made 3-pointers.
IUP used a balanced attack in the second half as the Crimson Hawks preserved its lead throughout the period coasting to a 78-56 win. IUP shot 13-of-33 from the floor and added 13 points from the free throw line. Senior guard Brandon Norfleet finished with a team-high 19 points and added four assists, while Jacobo Diaz netted 16 off of Coach Joe Lombardi's bench.
Shawn Williams and
Ricky Mosley were the only Marauders finishing in double figures with 19 and 12 points apiece. Former IUP guard
Cornell Yarde II made his first start since Dec. 1 and earned 29 minutes of action contributing two points, three rebounds and two assists.
Millersville returns home Saturday to host Shippensburg at 3 p.m. The Marauders will look to tally its first home victory of the 2015-16 season.
