Four Unanswered Goals Propel the Golden Rams over Women’s Soccer

Millersville, Pa. – The visiting West Chester Golden Rams scored four unanswered goals, three in the second half recording a come from behind victory over the Millersville women's soccer team, 4-1, on a rainy Tuesday evening at Pucillo Field.
Millersville (3-6, 3-6 PSAC) forward Halie Parker opened the scoring in the 38th minute. Meagan Newmister flicked a pass up the field to Parker who ripped a dipping shot from 35-yards out that fooled WCU keeper Alex Srolis. The goal represented a team-leading fifth of the season for Parker who ranks ninth in the PSAC in scoring with 13 points.
The Marauder lead was short lived, West Chester's Kara Parvel answered with the equalizer one minute later, converting on a through ball from teammate Scarlett Walsh. The score remained 1-1 through the halftime break.
The Golden Rams recorded the go-ahead effort off a corner kick that was headed in by Marissa Valenti from Sara Bennis in the 63rd minute, giving WCU a 2-1 lead.
West Chester (7-2, 7-2 PSAC) would go on to score twice in a 75-second span during the second half to open up the one goal game and leave no doubt in the result of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match. The first goal was scored by Erica Hanson in the 86th minute. A minute later, Kara Parvel earned a penalty kick opportunity after Marauder keeper Samantha Wolfe slid into Pavel in the defensive box. Pavel converted on the penalty kick as she notched two goals on the night.
West Chester out-shot the Marauders by a 13-12 margin, but both teams placed six shots on the goal frame. Samantha Wolfe suffered the loss in goal for MU tallying two saves.
The Marauders now have eight days to prepare for its next match against Lock Haven on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
