Millersville, Pa. -Â The Millersville softball team's bats were held scoreless on Monday afternoon as Bloomsburg swept the doubleheader with scores of 7-0 and 3-0 at Millersville Softball Field.
The Marauders fell to 12-15 overall and 4-8 in the PSAC East while the Huskies are now 9-7 on the season with a conference mark of 4-2. Millersville has lost four of its last six and Bloomsburg has been victorious in four of its last six. The home team was unable to get a run across with only four combined hits on the day.
In game one, the Huskies scored three in the first and two in the second to hand freshman
Cassidy Pinchorski (5-9) the shortest outing of her career. Pinchorski lasted just an inning and a third with five earned runs given up on seven hits with one walk. The visitors added one run in the fourth and another in the sixth to take the seven-run win.
In relief,
Stephanie Kulp went five and two thirds innings while allowing two earned runs on four hits with a walk and a strikeout.
Game two saw a scoreless tie through the first five innings and starter
Brianna Andraos (7-6) was in complete command. However, in the top of the sixth, Bloom's Kayla McHale reached on an error by
Jordan Sheffield, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and later scored on Sarah Bertoni's RBI single to right center. In the seventh, the Huskies added two more when McHale singled home both Maggie Hall and Valerie Carcasses.
Andraos went seven innings and gave up three runs, two earned, on eight hits with a free pass and two punchouts. DiFilippo was the lone Marauder with multiple hits on the day as she went 2-for-5 with a double and a walk.
Millersville is on the road Tuesday for a doubleheader with Kutztown beginning at 2:30.
