Millersville, Pa. -Â The Millersville women's lacrosse team tied the game up at two goals apiece just under two minutes into the first half before Seton Hill embarked on a 13-2 run that lasted until the 21:04 mark of the second half. That hole was too big for the Marauders to climb out of as they dropped the home affair by a score of 17-8.
Millersville (5-10, 3-8 PSAC) has now lost four straight and seven of its last nine while the Griffins (10-4, 7-3 PSAC) pushed their winning streak to two games and are winners in four of their last five.
The scoring was very much back and forth in the first 23 minutes and change as the teams exchanged the lead twice and were tied up another two times.
Renee Landis scored first for the Black & Gold before the PSAC's goal leader, Emma Simmers scored two in a row for the visitors. After
Bridget Hufnagel deadlocked the score back up at 2-2, Seton Hill began to assert itself.
During the Griffins' 13-2 fury mentioned above, the Marauders' two goals came from
Callie Kavanaugh and
Jaime Damirgian. At the end of the big run that put the away team up 15-4 came six straight goals by Seton Hill and that streak was put to a stop by
Sabrina Fusco with 19:31 to play in the game. That score was part of a final stretch in which Millersville scored four of the final six points in the game including two each from Fusco and Hufnagel.
Simmers proved why she's the league leader in goals as her and Tristen Hanke scored a game-high four times apiece for the Griffins. The home team was led by yet another hat trick from
Bridget Hufnagel who registered her seventh three-goal effort of the season and the junior has accomplished that feat three times in the last four games.Â
Next up, the Marauders travel to Shippensburg on Wednesday for a game beginning at 4 p.m.
