Millersville, Pa. - Celeste Robinson is back. After missing all of last season with an injury, the redshirt junior returned to the lineup Sunday with 19 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists and four steals, sparking the Millersville women's basketball team to an 86-73 win over W.Va. Wesleyan.
Robinson was one of four Marauders in double figures. Her 15 rebounds and seven assists were both career highs.
Yasmin Cooper matched Robinson in the scoring and rebounding columns for her 14th career double-double.
Aunjel Van Brakle added a career-high 15 points and blocked three shots. Redshirt freshman
Kendra Bamberger efficiently scored 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting in her collegiate debut.
The Marauders, however, needed a fourth quarter push to pull away from the visiting Bobcats. Wesleyan, led by 21 points and 10 rebounds from Adrian Cunningham, led the Marauders 62-61 after three quarters.
Shelby Reimer found
Courtney Hinnant for a layup to start the fourth quarter and a 12-0 run over the first four minutes. The burst included four from Hinnant, Cooper and Robinson. Wesleyan's Kambrie Bosley hit a 3-pointer to momentarily stop the Marauder run, but Cooper answered with her sixth point of the quarter. Millersville led by at least nine and as many as 15 during the final four minutes.
Millersville shot 45.2 percent from the field in the second half and hit 4-of-11 threes in the final 20 minutes after hitting 1-of-5 in the first half. The paint belonged to the Marauders as well as they outscored the Bobcats 54-30 inside. Millersville took full advantage of the 21 Bobcat turnovers, converting them into 26 points. Nine Marauders found the scoring column.
