Bloomsburg, Pa. -Â No. 22 Bloomsburg turned 23 Millersville turnovers into 25 points and its bench outscored the Marauders' 25-17 en route to a 69-47 road loss for Millersville on Wednesday night inside Nelson Field House.
The Marauders (10-9, 7-7 PSAC) have lost five straight for the first time since 1995 and fell to 3-7 on the road in 2014-15. The Huskies (14-2, 12-1 PSAC) have won seven straight and 14 of their last 15 since dropping their first game of the season.
Millersville turned the ball over 17 times in the first half alone to Bloomsburg's eight giveaways and the Huskies headed into the locker room up 40-22 after making five of their 12 first half 3-point attempts. The stanza began with a 7-2 run from the Black and Gold before their hosts scored 13 of the next 17 points over the course of three minutes and 50 seconds to go up 15-11. From that point on, things didn't get any easier for the Marauders who were outscored 25-11 through the final 12:05 of the half and went into the break down 18.
Out of the intermission,
Shelby Reimer hit a triple to cut the deficit to 15, 40-25, but the home team scored five straight points and had its biggest lead of the game at 20, 50-30. After that, the lead was never smaller than 17 and the Huskies sealed the 22-point victory.
Team-wise, Millersville held the rebounding advantage 42-35 including 17-10 on the offensive glass but was outscored 28-20 in the paint.
Alexis Martin was the lone Marauder in double figures with 10 points to go with eight rebounds, three blocks, two steals, and one assist. The Huskies were led by 22 points from Marla Simmons who had a double double with 10 rebounds and Bloomsburg turned in 16 assists on 22 of its field goal makes.
Millersville is off for a week and will host West Chester on Jan. 28 inside Pucillo with tip set for 5:30 p.m.
