Millersville Pa. -Â The Millersville women's soccer team saw IUP score two unanswered goals to give the Crimson Hawks a 2-1 victory Saturday. Millersville was the aggressor firing away 18 shots. But only eight of the shots were on target, forcing IUP goalkeeper Jessica Printz to make seven saves. With the loss the Marauders dropped to 4-3 overall and 4-3 in the PSAC. IUP improved to 6-1-1 overall and in the PSAC, further cementing its status as the top team in the conference.
Â
Scoring got underway just eight minutes in when
Logan Neiman delivered a beautiful through ball that left
Halie Parker in a one-on-one situation with Jessica Printz. Parker was able to beat Printz upper corner for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Â
But in the 21st minute the Crimson Hawks scored an equalizer, as goalkeeper
Olivia Webber wasn't able to secure a rebound in front of net. Lexie Palluconi was there to corral the rebound and kick it into the twine for her first goal of 2014.
Â
Just over 10 minutes later the Crimson Hawks capitalized on a Millersville turnover in its attacking third. Victoria Crawford stole the pass from the Marauder defender and crossed it into the box where only Brittany Kuhns could get it, and she headed it past Webber.
Â
The score remained 2-1 through the final 45 minutes with the Marauders failing to tie. The Black & Gold will next be in action Monday when they face PSAC west member Gannon. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Pucillo Field.
