Clarion Pa. - The Millersville women's soccer team is rolling right through PSAC competition as it won its third straight Wednesday. The Marauders beat Clarion by a score of 2-0, improving to 4-2 both overall and in the PSAC. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles fell to 2-5 overall and in the PSAC.
Â
The Marauders haven't strung this many wins together since they started the 2013 season 4-0 which brought national attention to the program. At one point during the run, Millersville was ranked ninth in the country.
Â
The Marauders opened tonight's game firing shots from all distances and totaling 18, which kept Clarion goalkeeper Laura Saussol busy. Saussol answered, though, as she saved a career-best 10 shots. It wasn't enough to propel the Golden Eagles to victory as it's offense wasn't able to break through the Black & Gold defense. Clarion was only able to muster eight shots, only testing
Olivia Webber two times who recorded her third shutout of the season.
Â
Coach
Mike O'Brien's squad dominated the first half of action maintaining possession but Saussol answered each Marauder shot with a save. However, in the 73rd minute of action, Millersville was finally able reach the back of the net with one of its shots. Sophomore
Halie Parker dribbled the ball out wide before firing a cross inside the box that
Kady Yoders converted for her first goal of the season. A meer 35 seconds later, it was Yoders again beating Saussol to put  the Marauders up, 2-0.
Â
The Golden Eagles' best opportunity to get on the board occurred late in the second half. Autumn Rosenburg fired a dipping shot from 35-yards out that ended up falling right into the arms of
Olivia Webber.
Â
Millersville returns home this Saturday to take on Indiana (Pa.). The game marks the first of an upcoming five-game home stand that could potentially make or break the Marauder season. Kick-off for the game against the Crimson Hawks is slated for 1 p.m. at Pucillo Field.
