Kutztown, Pa. - The Millersville women's soccer team traveled to Kutztown Wednesday and were defeated 4-1 by the Golden Bears. With the loss Millersville dropped to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in PSAC play.
Kutztown got the scoring started when it was on the receiving end of a Millersville foul resulting in a free-kick opportunity from 25 yards. Mariah Drim struck the ball past keeper
Olivia Webber making it 1-0. The Golden Bears struck again when Drim received a cross from teammate Rubi Mink inside the box and was able to beat Webber at the 41:29 mark. The score remained 2-0 until Drim completed the hat trick when she netted the ball from the middle of the box.
The Marauders were able to get on the board in the 64th minute when
Kelsey Mattola lofted a ball over Kutztown keeper Deanna Messner from 40 yards out. But the Golden Bears added an insurance goal four minutes later that made it 4-1 which ended up being the final.
For the game Kutztown out-shot Millersville 13-7 while also holding the 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Millersville returns home when it hosts the 0-2-1 Edinboro Fighting Scots on Monday at 3 p.m.
