Complete Game Notes (.PDF)GAME OVERVIEW• Millersville's brutal opening stretch continues Saturday with a road trip to Kohler Field House to take on the nation's No. 4-ranked team. All of Millersville's first four games came on the road, two teams were nationally ranked and all four teams were picked either No. 1 or No. 2 in the conference preseason polls. East Stroudsburg boasts a high-powered offense and a high-pressure defense. ESU is averaging 85.0 points per game and has forced nearly 20 turnovers per game. That's a tough match-up for the Marauders as they are coming off a loss to West Chester in which they scored 49 points--the fewest by a Millersville team since 2011. The Marauders average 59.7 points per game and are shooting 37.8 percent from the field while East Stroudsburg is hitting 42.5 percent from the field. ESU is also an outstanding free throw shooting team, hitting 75.3 percent.
• Millersville was troubled by West Chester's press Wednesday, committing 21 turnovers, which led to 22 West Chester points. The Marauders are averaging 18.7 turnovers per game, which is second-most in the PSAC. East Stroudsburg averages 10 steals per game and forces 18.3 turnovers per game. Millersvile's opponents have scored 60 points off of turnovers.
• Millersville must improve its rebounding. The Marauders were out-rebounded by a 49-29 margin against West Chester and rank last in the PSAC in rebounding margin. They have been out-rebounded by 12.3 rebounds per game. Millersville's 19.0 defensive rebounds rank 17th among the 18 teams in the PSAC. Millersville was outscored 27-8 in second chance points and 48-24 in points in the paint against West Chester. The Marauders have been outscored in the paint in all three games this season.
•
Kelvin Parker and
Eddie Callender both lead Millersville with 14.0 points per game, which tie for 22nd in the PSAC. In 17 games as a Marauder, Parker has scored 287 points, for an average of 16.9 points per game. He's scored in double figures in all three games this season and in 16 of 17 games as a Marauder including 15 in a row. That last Marauder to average that many points per game over at least a 17-game span was Reggie Bates in 2007-08 when he averaged 19.2 points per game over 32 games. Â
• Kohler Field House is one of the toughest places for any PSAC team to play, and it shows as Millersville has lost eight consecutive games in the building. Millersville's last win at East Stroudsburg came in 2009. Millersville's three losses to East Stroudsburg in 2013-14 came by an average of 25 points per game. Millersville's last six losses to ESU have all been by at least 12 points.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT• East Stroudsburg is ranked No. 4 in Division II to start the year after winning the PSAC Championship and reached the Atlantic Region final with a 30-2 record. ESU has won PSAC titles in two of the last three years. Senior Whis Grant is the team's driving force as a two-time All-American. He's scored over 1,500 career points. Fellow senior Matt Tobin was All-PSAC East last season after leading the PSAC in Division II. Through three games this season, three different players have led the team in scoring. ESU has scored 92 points in two of its three games. It's lone slip came against Bowie State in which the Warriors shot a season-low 37.2 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from three.
