Millersville, Pa. – Millersville field hockey topped Bellarmine 4-0 Sunday for its second consecutive shutout, starting another winning streak.

Millersville (11-1) again shut down its opponent, not allowing any goals to be scored for the eighth time in 12 games. For the second day in a row, four different Marauders scored the team's four goals.

Lauren Gerhart,
Champayne Hess, and
Olivia Hershey scored the team's goals on Sunday.

Gerhart capped an impressive weekend with a goal and an assist, giving her two goals and three assists in back-to-back games. She assisted on the first goal of the game, feeding a pass to Kaitlyn Zapp, who scored her team-leading 10th goal of the season.

Less than three minutes later, Gerhart scored a goal herself, redirecting a shot from
Rachel Dickinson off of a penalty corner.

Millersville took the 2-0 lead into halftime, but Hess boosted the lead 7:50 into the second period when a shot from Dickinson was deflected by Zapp and then by Hess who was positioned at the right edge of the cage. Hershey scored the team's fourth goal when she gathered the ball off of a save and pushed it into the cage for her third goal of the season.

Lauren Sotzin notches her seventh shutout of the season by making four saves. The shutout was No. 26 of her career, bringing her to within one of the school record held by hall of famer Stacey Hollinger.

The win improved Millersville to a 3-2 all-time against Bellarmine. Millersville travels to face No. 2 West Chester on Oct. 22 at 4 p.m. It is the second one vs. two match-up of the season between the clubs.
