Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls to No. 11 West Chester

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's soccer team lost 2-0 to West Chester Saturday at Rockwell Field. The Golden Rams came into the matchup as the No. 11 ranked team in Division II according to the NSCAA rankings. The loss drops the Marauders to 6-6 overall, and 6-6 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action. With the 2-0 victory, West Chester improves to 12-1, and 11-1 in the PSAC.

It was a tight affair with West Chester holding a 12-9 advantage over the Marauders in shots. However, Millersville was able to hold a 4-3 corner kick advantage. The Marauders were unable to convert on any opportunity. The loss also marked the first time the Black & Gold were shutout all season.

Both Golden Ram goals came late in the second half with neither team able to gain an advantage throughout. The first goal came at the 71:41 mark when midfielder Nikki Lynch crossed the ball from the left side of the pitch that found the right foot Kara Parvel who tapped it in past keeper Olivia Webber. The Nikki Lynch cross skipped past a couple of Marauder defenders who weren't able to corral it before Parvel one-touched it into the back of the net.

The insurance effort was a solo attack off the right side of the field where Parvel laid it off to Carly Yost, who blasted it bottom left corner of the net just inside the corner of the net. Olivia Webber was able to get her fingertips on the shot but wasn't able to handle it enough to stop it for the save.

Webber finished the match with three saves. The Marauders had several advantageous efforts on net due to clean breaks but were unable to convert.

Millersville returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 22 when it travels to battle Bloomsburg. The Huskies are currently 6-7-1 overall and 5-7-1 in conference play, so this will be a must-win match-up for the Marauders. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
