Lancaster, Pa. - The Millersville wrestling team volunteered its time and energy on Saturday afternoon with the Make-A-Wish Foundation's "Mother's Day Truck Convoy" in Lancaster to help children with life-threatening illnesses.
The Marauder wrestlers spent five hours on Saturday afternoon helping to prepare for the Mother's Day convoy on Sunday. The athletes and coaches helped with various tasks such as setting up tents, preparing tables, unloading trucks, packing bags of food, mulching, landscaping, and other tasks that needed completed.
The 2013 Make-A-Wish Foundation's truck convoy was expected to raise $325,000 for the children with the life-threatening illnesses. That amount of money is enough to fulfill the wishes of around 35 children whose wishes range from meeting a famous athlete to traveling to another part of the country or world.
The annual Lancaster truck convoy consisted of over 330 trucks. The convoy began in Burle Business Park on New Holland Avenue with the children riding in the massive vehicles and returned over an hour and a half later. According to Guinness Book of World Records it is the longest truck convoy recognized.
