Moffit Marauders' Top Finisher at Mat Town Open

Lock Haven, Pa. - Freshman Aram Moffitt finished fourth in the 197-pound weight class, leading all Millersville wrestlers at Sunday's Mat Town Open.

Moffitt won four matches for the second time in his two open tournaments this season. His lone losses were against Lock Haven's Phil Sprenkle, who took first place, and Pittsburgh's Ryan Solomon in the third-place bout. Moffitt's day started with a 12-3 major decision over Amos Pierrette of Maryland.

Sprenkle scored a fall against Moffitt, but the Marauder redshirt freshman bounced back with a fall of his own (6:40) in the consolation bracket over Franklin & Marshall's Isaiah Cromwell. Moffitt then topped Bloomsburg's Shaun Heist in a 10-5 decision. He advanced into the third place match with a medical forfeit before falling to Solomon in a fall at the 3:56 mark.

Millersville travels to the PSAC Championships in Edinboro on Dec. 7.
