Millersville, Pa. – Bloomsburg's Julie Falk finished with a game-high 13 points on five goals and eight assists to lead the Huskies past Millersville by a score of 25-8 on Saturday at Chryst Field at Biemsderfer Stadium.
Millersville (5-8, 2-6 PSAC) opened the game with two goals in less than a minute to take an early 2-0 lead. Sophomore
Brooke Fisher opened the game with a free position goal. Freshman
Hannah Vogel followed with an unassisted goal 35 seconds later.
Bloomsburg (6-7, 4-4 PSAC) cut the lead in half on a free position goal by Sam Mazzie. The teams exchanged the lead three times over the next eight minutes before Falk gave the Huskies the lead for good at 5-4 with 16:18 left in the first half.
The Huskies scored seven unanswered goals after trailing 4-3 to take a 10-4 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the half. Bloomsburg pushed its lead to 14-6 at the break.
The Marauders only found two more goals in the second half, both by
Caitlin Shannon. Shannon finished with a team-high four goals to now lead Millersville with 35 goals on the season.
Falk contributed to seven second-half goals, including the final five of the game to help Bloomsburg to a 25-8 win. It was the second most goals allowed by a Millersville team since giving up 30 to Penn State in 1978.
The Marauders return to action next Friday, April 20 when they host Mercyhurst at 4 p.m. Millersville then hosts Gannon on Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m.
The Millersville women's lacrosse team along with the Millersville communication students collected donations for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's campaign at today's game. The lacrosse team also developed their own “Drawing for Blood” campaign to donate five dollars for every draw control it won to help make a difference to those battling blood cancers.
