Raleigh, N.C. – Millersville took just five athletes to the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State University this weekend, but all five competed well against tough opposition in the field and on the track. The theme of the weekend was setting season-best results, which all five athletes did in their respective events.
Three women competed for the Marauders Friday, and all three set season-best times. In the lone field event, Katherine Lennex placed 26th with a 4.78-meter long jump. The two track runners were Chrissy Savage and Elicia Anderson. Savage ran the 100-meter dash in a season-best time of 12.67 seconds, placing 42nd and Anderson placed 19th in the 5,000-meter run with a 16:44.93 finish.
On the second day the lone men's team representative, Keith Ogden Jr., had arguably the best result of the weekend. He and Savage competed in the 400-meter hurdles. Ogden's 53.32-second, 11th place finish is an NCAA Championships provisional qualifying time. Savage finished 33rd for the women with a time of 1:06.43, topping her own season-best time from a week ago.
Like Friday, Lennex was Millersville's lone representative in the field events. Her triple jump ranged 11.21 meters, good for 14th place. She also topped her own season- and team-best jump of the season for the women's team, which she logged two weeks ago at the Shamrock Invitational.
Next Friday and Saturday, Millersville hosts its lone event of the outdoor season, as the Millersville Metrics & Combined Events takes place at Biemesderfer Stadium.
