
Marauders Leave Shamrock Invitational with 15 PSAC Qualifiers

Carson, SC – The Marauder track & field team wrapped up its first competition of the season Saturday at Coastal Carolina in the Shamrock Invitational, and several members of both the men and women's teams have already qualified for the PSAC Championships later this season.
Saturday's competition saw Chrissy Savage, Mercedes Ortiz and Katherine Lennex qualify for the PSACs in the 100-meter dash. Savage finished in a time of 12.88 seconds, Ortiz qualified with a 12.92-second finish and Lennex had a time of 12.97 seconds.
Others qualifying for the conference championship meet were in the 800-meter dash on Saturday. Megan Meyer and Brittney Martin locked up spots for the women and Kevin DiFlorio assured himself of a postseason race for the men. Meyer finished 20th with a time of 2:19.53 and Martin took 32nd, clocking a 2:22.97 time. DiFlorio's 25th-place time was 1:57.77.
Thusday, in the high jump portion of the decathlon, Zach Kohler qualified for PSAC Championships with a height of 1.93 meters. Friday's events saw the most qualifiers, with eight Marauders securing postseason bids.
Led by Elicia Anderson's win in the 10,000-meter run, eight Millersville athletes qualified for PSACs on Friday. Anderson qualified with a meet-record time of 35:08.91. Two other runners also qualified in the 10K, both from the men's team. James McBride ran a second-place time of 31:59.04 and Connor Veres placed ninth, clocking in at 32:54.10. In the distance events, Michelle Blum also qualified in the 5,000-meter, running a time of 19:05.27 to place 25th.
The other three PSAC qualifiers from Millersville came from the hammer throw event. Two members of the women's team, Ann Kovacs and Kelli Farris, will compete in the PSAC Championships after they registered throws of 45.34 and 42.00 meters, respectively. Justin Berg qualified in the event for the men after his 46.64-meter throw landed him in 20th place.
The Marauder teams are back in action next Saturday for a one-day meet at the Golden Ram Invitational, hosted by West Chester.
