Kutztown, Pa. - Behind sixth-place finishes from Brad Ladd and Zach Pincus, the Millersville wrestling team took eighth at the 70th PSAC Championships Saturday afternoon.
Millersville totaled 20 points, finishing ahead of Gannon and East Stroudsburg. Edinboro took first place for its seventh title in the last eight years.
The 174-pound Pincus and heavyweight Ladd were the lone Marauders to win more than one match. Pincus edged Gannon's Jermaine Easter 7-6 in the opening round but was bounced into the consolation round by eventual runner-up Ryan Darch of Clarion.
In the consolation round, Pincus defeated Kutztown's Ricky Pena by a 3-1 decision but dropped his next two matches, including falling to Easter in the fifth-place bout, 10-5.
Like Pincus, Ladd won his first round match over Shippensburg's Dan Fultz by a 6-2 count. Eventual champion, Justin Grant of Bloomsburg, sent Ladd to the consolation round with a pin. Ladd rebounded by pinning Gannon's Marino Quercio at the 2:05 mark. He scored an 8-2 victory over Joe Blaes of ESU to reach the consolation semis.
Ladd, however, was pinned by Edinboro's Ernest James, and then lost by fall to Clarion's Philip Catrucco by fall in the fifth-place match.
The Marauders are off for 20 days until the Wilkes Open on Dec. 28.
