Millersville, Pa. – Down by three with five minutes remaining, the Millersville women's lacrosse team netted four unanswered goals to rally past Kutztown 11-10 Saturday afternoon at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
Becky Donkin and
Brooke Fisher connected with 12 seconds showing on the clock to break the tie and lift the Marauders to its second PSAC victory of the year.
With its fourth win Millersville exceed last season's win total of three.
Kutztown (4-6, 0-6 PSAC) and the Marauders (4-4, 2-4 PSAC) exchanged tallies throughout the first half, but
Mary Houtmann scored on a pass from
Ashley Henderson at the 1:33 mark to give Millersville a 4-3 edge heading into the break.
The Golden Bears opened the second half with two-straight goals to take a 5-4 lead. The visitors then, in search of their first conference victory, took a commanding 10-7 lead with just 8:09 to play.
Senior
Kelsey Schmoltze, who dished out a game- and season-high three assists, found an open Fisher to bring the Marauders within two. Playing in her first game since the start of the season,
Morgan Mangiaruga exploded toward the goal less than 30 seconds later and netted an unassisted shot to put Millersville back in contention.
Fisher registered a free position goal to knot the score at 10 at the 2:11 mark and the Marauders maintained control of the game for the remainder of action. Fisher again found the back of the net off of a pass from Donkin to give MU its first lead of the contest since halftime, and the Golden Bears could not recover.
Schmoltze led all scorers with two goals and three assists on the day and Fisher chipped in three goals. Henderson and Mangiaruga each added two. Kelsey Hogan led the Kutztown offense with three goals, and Rachel Mehaffey and Leann Pica each recorded two goals and an assist on the day.

Courtney Haggerty set aside 11 saves. JoAnn McLaughlin recorded 14 saves for the Golden Bears.
Rollins travels to Millersville on Monday, April 4 for a non-conference match-up. Action is scheduled for 4 p.m.
