Erie, Pa. – The Millersville women's lacrosse team came from behind and out-scored No. 12 Mercyhurst 5-2 in the second half, knotting the score at nine with 58 seconds remaining. The Lakers, however, found the back of the net with 11 seconds to go and edged the Marauders 10-9 Saturday afternoon in the second game in as many days for both of the clubs.

It marked the fourth contest against a nationally ranked opponent in the last five games for Millersville, as the Black and Gold fell to 4-9 overall and 2-8 in the PSAC.

Mercyhurst (10-4, 6-3 PSAC) got on the board first at the 27:25 mark, but Caitlin Shannon quickly answered for the Marauders less than a minute later with an unassisted goal. The home-standing Lakers out-scored MU 6-3 to close out the half and took a three-goal lead into the break.

Millersville and the Lakers each netted two goals less than 12 minutes into the second period when the Marauders found their offensive rhythm. The squad rattled off three-straight goals, including one by Morgan Mangiaruga with just under one minute remaining, to make it a tie game.

As the clock wound down Mercyhurst's Ally Keirn's only goal of the day came with 11 seconds showing on the clock, and the nationally-ranked Lakers narrowly escaped Millersville's grasp.

Alisha Catalino and Kimberly Masterton each tallied three goals for Mercyhurst. Goalkeeper Jenny Perkins registered eight saves.

Shannon led all MU scorers with three goals, Brooke Fisher added two and Kelsey Schmoltze chipped in two goals and handed out two assists. Mary Houtmann also scored for Millersville and Courtney Haggerty set aside six shots between the pipes.

The Marauders return home to close out the regular season against Shippensburg on Thursday, April 21. The club will honor its four seniors, as well as 33rd-year head coach Barb Waltman, who will retire upon completion of the season.
