Erie, Pa. – Completing its first game of a two-day stretch, the Millersville women's lacrosse team fell to No. 10 Gannon 16-7 Friday afternoon in Erie. It marked the Marauders' third contest against a nationally ranked opponent in the last four games.

Despite forcing the Golden Knights (10-4, 6-3 PSAC) to commit a season-high 23 turnovers, Millersville (4-8, 2-7 PSAC) was unable to keep up with the host's offensive pressure.

Gannon wasted no time getting on the board, netting two goals just seven minutes into the first. The Golden Knights extended the lead to five three minutes later, when Brooke Fisher found an open Becky Donkin for MU's first goal.

The Marauders added another goal in the period but entered the halftime break down 7-2.

Gannon opened the second half with a score and the Marauders quickly answered when Donkin and Fisher connected for the second time, this time Fisher with the goal. The clubs went on a 4-2 run in the Golden Knights' advantage mid-way through the period.

Millersville chipped in two more goals to wrap up action and Gannon added five as the nationally-ranked Knights picked up their third-straight win. Gannon's Caitlyn Fisher scored a game-high five goals and Mary Eshenour and Nikki Schattinger each netted four.

Fisher led the Marauder offense with three goals and an assist, Kelsey Schmoltze added a goal and dished out two assists, and Donkin and #Kathryn Kehring each had a goal and a helper.

Goalkeeper Courtney Haggerty produced a nine-save day and Lauren Mateja stopped one shot.

Millersville returns to action tomorrow when the squad travels to nearby Mercyhurst. The Marauders and the No. 12 Lakers are set for a 3 p.m. match-up.
