Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville women's lacrosse team opened Saturday's game against Edinboro with five goals on five shots and never trailed. The Marauders picked up their first conference victory with the 9-5 win. With the win Millersville evened its overall record at 3-3 and matched last season's win total.
With 13:01 to play in regulation, Edinboro (3-4, 0-4 PSAC) cut its deficit to two with three-straight scores, but the Marauders closed out the contest with back-to-back goals to secure the victory over the visitors.

Kelsey Schmoltze and
Brooke Fisher all netted unassisted goals—Shannon registered two tallies—to take a 5-0 lead just over mid-way through the first period, and Edinboro could not find its rhythm to recover.
The Fighting Scots found the back of the net twice in the first half, and Shannon recorded another goal for Millersville to give her team a 6-2 advantage at the break. Edinboro out-shot Millersville 13-9 in the half but could not find its way around
Courtney Haggerty, who set aside five first-half shots.
Schmoltze notched the first score of the second period to put MU up by five. Edinboro went on a three-goal run over a span of eight minutes to close the gap, but Kehring and Shannon quickly answered to deny the Fighting Scots comeback attempt.
Leeanne Stickle led the Edinboro offense with two goals on the day. Fighting Scot goalkeeper Michelle Zei recorded two saves and Teresa Fiora tallied one.
Millersville's Shannon led all scorers with four goals, and Schmoltze chipped in two for the second day in a row. Kehring also registered two goals. Haggerty totaled 10 saves between the pipes for the Marauders.
Millersville travels to eighth-ranked West Chester on Tuesday, March 29. Action is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Vonnie Gros Field.
